The Year 11 ASDAN – COPE class had the wonderful opportunity of following the ‘PHOENIX’ course which was offered by the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. It also gives the pupils credit for part of the COPE course as well. The PHOENIX course encompassed skills such as: Ladder drills; Search and Rescue drills; Knots and Lines; Pump & Hose drills; Casualty Handling; First Aid Trauma Care (demonstration); Team building exercises; Road Traffic Collision – Extrication and Scene Safety; Community Safety; Fire Safety Awareness; Squad Drill & Marching; Health & Safety and Risk Assessment as well as an Outdoor Activity Day. The boys all gained valuable skills and experience as well as having some fun.
