Rotary ‘Youth Speaks’
At St John Lloyd we have a long history of competing in the Rotary Club’s ‘Youth Speaks’ public speaking competition, which is an annual event that pupils in Year 9 and 10 participate in and one which challenges pupils to deliver and discuss demanding topics to a varied professional audience.
In recent years we have had many successes, including a trip to Hull University in 2013 as British Finalists for the intermediate section of the competition. Each year we enter three pupils from Year 9 to represent the Intermediate Team and three from Year 10 for the Senior Team, with the level of challenge always being exceptionally high.
New members to the team are always welcome and pupils are asked to speak to Miss L Evans (Head of English) or Mr D Daley (teacher of RE) if they wish to join in the challenge and fun.
