St. John Lloyd Catholic Comprehensive School is a mixed 11 – 16 school serving the communities of Llanelli, Carmarthen, Ammanford and surrounding areas. We are an inclusive school, proud of our Catholic identity and values. We welcome applications from families from all beliefs and backgrounds who wish to share in the Christian atmosphere of the school.
A dozen of our year 10 pupils took part in an exciting real-world based project arranged with CCC and Bouygues. Our pupils were given the brief of researching and designing a whole floor of one of the buildings at the Pentre Awel development in Llanelli.
We are proud to say that as a result of all the hard work as a team, SJL pupils were joint winners for the project. The pupils benefitted massively from the experience as they were able to work alongside mentors from Bouygues. Pupils were able to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding in many areas including research, architecture, costing and environmental issues.
Please see the video for more information. Many thanks to CCC and Bouygues for providing and supporting this valuable opportunity.

On Thursday, September 28th, students from Years 9 and 10 enjoyed a day at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford Upon Avon; they took part in an insightful workshop with RSC actors, before enjoying front row seats for a gripping performance of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, directed by award winning director, Wils Wilson.
A great end to a week celebrating International languages! We’ve been spoilt by foods around the world in the canteen, quizzes and a staff dress up!
Jonathan Cooper from Estyn has asked if we would be willing to share the link below with parents to try to get a forum of parents together to give back views on Estyn’s work.
